This flat gasket sits on the oil filter housing of Mercedes engines M102, M103 and M104 as well as the six-cylinder diesels OM603 and OM606. It is not a wear item at a normal oil-filter change, but should always be renewed when you remove or reseal the oil filter housing. That way the joint stays oil-tight after reassembly. Precisely fitting replacement for oil filter housing gasket A1021840980 (aftermarket among others Elring 763.260, 78 x 85 mm).

A typical reason is conversion to an oil-filter relocation adapter – on the 190E 2.3-16/2.5-16 (M102 16V) just as on M103, M104 and the diesels OM603/OM606.
