While most 2.5-16s were already equipped with a more reliable chain tensioner with ratcheting mechanism from the factory, there are still individual cases of defective chain tensioners or chain tensioners that work by means of oil pressure and therefore do not apply the correct pressure to the tensioning bar of the timing chain in every situation.
