The Evo 2 is the shape many 190 owners want for their car. The conversion is doable, but it is a project: fitting parts, cutting metal, priming, registration. What Is Part of the Evo 2 Conversion?
The GFRP Evo 2 kit consists of splitter, front bumper, rear bumper, rear spoiler with flap and additional spoiler and the wheel arch extensions front, rear and on the doors. Side skirts and door Sacco boards are the 16V parts on an Evo 2. Optional: CW underbody panels, carbon side skirts, boot lid, bonnet and roof skin in GFRP.
What Is the GFRP Kit, and What Is It Not?
To set expectations: the Evo 2 kit is a motorsport kit in GFRP, optimised for weight and price. Every part is available on its own, so you replace a damaged part without buying a new kit. It is not a 10,000 euro carbon or Kevlar kit. It is not plug and play and not fitted without adjustments, the parts come raw with gelcoat and get fitted to the car. If you know that and approach the project with realistic expectations, you get the Evo 2 shape at good value for money, with reliable order handling, careful shipping and someone to talk to before you buy.
What Is the Motorsport Programme?
In racing, rallying or on track days something breaks eventually, that is the point of parts you can replace one by one. How Does GFRP Hold Up in Use, and What Happens When It Gets Damaged?
GFRP is the classic motorsport material for body parts: light, dimensionally stable and above all repairable. That is exactly its advantage over carbon in racing. Cracks, stone chips or breakouts after contact can be laminated, filled and repainted. Carbon tends to shatter, a proper repair is complex, in practice the part gets replaced. And if a GFRP part is beyond saving, replacements are affordable and available, cheaper still in our motorsport programme. No body part is indestructible, but with GFRP a damage stays calculable, and the race weekend is not over.
Can I Use the Parts in Historic Motorsport?
Yes. Customers in many racing series run the parts on circuits and in rallying. That is what they are made for: light, affordable, replaceable one by one. Whether your regulations allow the parts is something to check with your organiser.
What Can I Keep From a Standard 190 or a 16V?
From a standard 190 nothing of the body kit, the kit is complete. Body, doors, bonnet, boot lid and fenders stay and get modified. From a 16V you keep the side skirts and the door Sacco boards. Everything else is Evo 2 specific.

Evo 1 or Evo 2, What Is the Difference in the Conversion?
The Evo 1 builds on four 16V parts: rear bumper, side skirts and both Sacco board sets stay, Evo 1 bumper or 16V bumper and Evo 1 lip, rear extension, rear spoiler and wheel arches are added. If you already own a 16V you need fewer parts for an Evo 1. The Evo 2 keeps only side skirts and door Sacco boards, the rest is its own. Both kits come complete or as single parts. Do I Have to Cut or Widen the Wheel Arches?
Yes. The outer fenders front and rear get cut or widened so the wheel arch extensions sit properly. At the rear you also modify the wheel house and reconnect inner and outer wall. Reworking the front inner wheel wells is not required for a pure looks conversion. It pays off if you want to run the larger wheel setups the kit allows, because that is where you gain performance and grip.
Does the Kit Come With Brackets?
Partly. The wheel arch extensions have threads in places but are usually bonded to the body. The rear spoiler comes with threads, the side skirts bolt on like the originals. The bumpers are outer skins without brackets. You build the mounting to suit your use: lightweight for minimum weight on track, or with the factory bumper carrier for a sturdier setup. Many customers use motorsport quick releases so the bumper comes off fast for loading or work on the car.
Is the Rear Spoiler Solid or Hollow?
The rear spoiler is hollow and deliberately as light as possible. If you want extra stiffness during fitting, you can fill it with a polyurethane body foam. Teroson PU 9500 FOAM or PETEC Karo-Schaum 98140 work well.
Can I Do the Conversion Myself and How Long Does It Take?
Yes, many of our customers fit their kit themselves. It does help though if you have worked with GFRP parts before, fitting and adjusting go easier and the result gets better. All GFRP parts come raw with gelcoat and need fitting, filling and priming. A weekend is not enough. Rolling into the garage on Friday and out with a show car on Sunday is not realistic. Plan the conversion as a project.
Is There a Certificate for the GFRP Kit and How Do I Get It Registered?
No, there is no certificate. All parts of the kit are motorsport parts and come without a material certificate or test report. For possible road use the route is an individual approval: talk to your inspector first and clarify what he needs to see. If you have questions or need single parts for the inspection, we are happy to help. Selected carbon parts ship with a material certificate, which makes registration easier.
What Does the Evo 2 Conversion Cost?
The complete GFRP kit is from 1,949 € incl. German VAT, for EU business customers and export from 1,638 € net plus local taxes, duties and delivery. Add shipping, paint and the bodywork, which depending on your car and your standards is the larger part of the budget.
How Is the Kit Shipped, Also Overseas?
Yes, worldwide. Small parts go by parcel, large parts as bulky goods or freight in sturdy packaging made for the parts to avoid shipping damage. In Germany we deliver by carrier or direct delivery from our warehouse on request. Overseas we ship by air or sea freight, cheapest to a business address. The complete kit is the best value for shipping because the cost is spread over more items, and with several kits the shipping cost per kit drops further. Does the Kit Fit Every W201?
Yes. You can use any 190 as the base car, whether 190D, 8V or 16V.
Which Wheels and Tyres Fit Under the Evo 2?
With the Evo kit you can run various 17 inch wheels, even 18 inch works. The original setup is the maxilite Evo 8.25×17. For motorsport setups the Compomotive wheels in 17 and 18 inch fit. Our tyre calculator tells you which tyre size goes with which wheel.
GFRP or Carbon?
The kit is GFRP: affordable, light, delivered raw with gelcoat. Selected parts are also available in carbon, lighter and stiffer, some with a material certificate that makes registration easier. The basic decision is covered in our Evo or 16V guide.
How Much Does the Evo 2 GFRP Kit Weigh?
The complete kit weighs around 26 kg. The exact weight varies with production and optional components.
Are the Parts Delivered Primed or Painted?
No, the GFRP parts come raw with gelcoat. Fitting, filling and priming are part of the conversion.
